Helen Bullock + The Sleep Shirt: Discover a Colourful Hand-Painted Stripe
An exclusive collaboration
We're pleased to present Helen Bullock + The Sleep Shirt, a capsule collection of loungewear with a custom print designed by London-based illustrator and print designer, Helen Bullock.
In addition to being friends for over a decade, Helen and our founder, Alexandra Suhner Isenberg are both alumni of the prestigious fashion program at Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design. Helen’s bold illustrations and prints inspired Alexandra to approach her about a collaboration. The finished result is the Midsummer Stripe, a bright, colourful hand-painted print available in four key shapes from our loungewear collection.
A hand-painted stripe on a luxury linen blend
Helen is known for her creative use of colour and bright combinations, which lead to the custom print featuring a striking medley of paint brushed stripes in shades of blues, yellows and reds. Printed onto a 55% linen, 45% cotton blend fabric made in Italy, it is ideal to be worn as sleepwear, loungewear, or resort wear.
The Midsummer Stripe is being offered in our signature shape, The Short Sleep Shirt. This classic, long-sleeved nightshirt with an oversized cut is worn as sleepwear, loungewear, an oversized top, a dress, or as a beach coverup. This shape has been our best seller since we were founded in 2012, so we've decided to make the stripe available in One Size, Petite and Plus.
The Short Sleep Shirt Petite is a shorter version of the classic nightshirt and slightly slimmer in the shoulders and across the chest. The Petite size was designed for petite frames, but also works as an oversized shirt on average heights.
The Short Sleep Shirt PLUS is a staple in our plus size collection. This shape was specifically developed for the extended sizes market and has been extremely popular since the range launched in 2015.
The final piece added to the collection is the Oversized Kaftan, a roomy, flowing piece made for around the home and to the beach. This luxurious shape makes a dramatic statement, especially in the new Midsummer Stripe print, and proves to be the standout piece of the assortment.
As a bonus, The Sleep Shirt will be offering free colouring page downloads of Helen's drawings. Featuring two still life pages and an image of a woman wearing a striped shirt, the colouring pages will be available to download in A4 and letter size formats.
In addition to the launch, Helen and Alexandra both wanted to include a charity donation of each item sold from the collaboration. The covid-19 crisis in the UK and Canada is resulting in an increase in food insecurity, so it was decided to donate $25 from the sale of each item in the collection, with half of the funds being sent to Food Banks Canada and the other half to The Trussel Trust in the UK.
