Introducing Marika Meyer x The Sleep Shirt
An Exclusive Resort Capsule Perfect for Escaping the Winter
Winter is coming – and with an unmistakable chill in the air also comes a desire to escape the cold. If you’re lucky enough to be doing so, be sure to pack a piece from our newest collaboration, Marika Meyer x The Sleep Shirt.
If you haven’t heard of Marika Meyer, she’s a textile and interior designer based in Washington, DC. She founded her interior design firm, Marika Meyer Interiors, in 2007 and quickly became known for creating refined yet approachable spaces across the United States and Europe. Her projects have been featured in the likes of the Wall Street Journal, Washington Post, and House Beautiful and led her to launch Marika Meyer Textiles in 2016.
“Marika Meyer’s interiors and textiles have a classic, contemporary elegance,” admires The Sleep Shirt founder Alexandra Suhner Isenberg. “We also love that, like us, she takes inspiration from the past to create something modern.”
For Resort 2023, Marika handpicked two of her most iconic prints for a capsule collection of six loungewear pieces. The Laurel Leaf features delicate, coral-toned leaves inspired by the decoration on a 19th century side chair, while Roman Fig has a blue, allover pattern that was inspired by the intricately carved detail of a pediment of a Roman temple. Both prints were part of Marika Meyer’s first collection, the Sterrett Collection, which was named after her great-great grandfather, JR Sitlington Sterrett, a professor at Cornell University and an expert on all things Greek.
“It’s a treat, especially around the festive season, to revisit two patterns from the early days of my brand,” says Marika. “The very first Marika Meyer collection was inspired by our family history, [and] my great-great grandfather has inspired our family through the years.”
The capsule (and particularly the Classic Kaftan) is ideal for snowbirds looking to escape the winter – but if you’re not, the pieces also make great gifts for the festive season. There’s the best selling Long Sleep Shirt, the Sleeveless Nightie, the Robe, and the Lounge Pant – all of which are excellent presents – while the Classic Shirt works as an oversized shirt for day, a cool swimsuit coverup or a nightshirt. “I love the versatility of this collection,” confirms Alexandra. “The pieces can be worn for sleep, lounging, or on holiday.”
Designed and produced in Canada as always, the limited-edition capsule is available now, in sizes XS to XXL.
